LONG TITLE
General Description:
This bill amends provisions relating to the time observed in Utah.

observe mountain daylight time year-round.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1, Section 
63G-1-902
 is enacted to read:
9. Utah Time
63G-1-902. Definitions.
(1)
As used in this section:
(a)
"Mountain daylight time" means a time that is one hour later than mountain standard 
time.
(b)
"Mountain standard time" means the observed time assigned to the mountain time 
zone in 15 U.S.C. Sec. 261.
(2)
Except as provided in Subsection 
(3)
, beginning on January 1, 2026, Utah:
(a)
is exempt from the provisions of 15 U.S.C. Sec. 260a that provide for the 
advancement of time by one hour; and
(b)
will observe mountain standard time at all times of the year.
(3)
If federal law is changed to permit Utah to observe mountain daylight time at all times 
of the year, Utah will, beginning at 2 a.m. on January 1 after the change to federal law 
takes effect, observe mountain daylight time at all times of the year.
Section 2, 
Repealer.
Year-round daylight saving time.
Section 3. 
Effective date.
This bill takes effect on May 7, 2025
