LONG TITLE
General Description:
This bill addresses human trafficking education and prevention.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Section
67-5-22.9
is enacted to read:
67-5-22.9.
State human trafficking intervention coordinator.
(1) The attorney general shall appoint a state human trafficking intervention
coordinator.
(2) The state human trafficking intervention coordinator shall:
(a) provide support and resources to state and local prosecutors on human trafficking
prosecutions throughout the state;
(b) coordinate support for victims of human trafficking throughout the state;
(c) assist in the creation of the human trafficking and exploitation educational program
established in Section
53B-16-112
;
(d) promote awareness among the general public about human trafficking, victim
remedies and services, and trafficking prevention;
(e) promote training on human trafficking prevention and victim services for state and
local employees who have recurring contact with victims or perpetrators of human trafficking;
(f) present annually at professional development conferences throughout the state
directed toward primary and secondary school teachers, administrators, and support staff
regarding human trafficking awareness and prevention; and
(g) conduct other appropriate activities related to human trafficking.
Section 2.
Effective date.
This bill takes effect on May 1, 2024.
